Our Story

In 2000 Michael Yoder began working with a local builder who built homes “the way it used to be done.” Most of the work was done by those of us in the company. We did everything from the masonry, framing, electrical, and plumbing, to the drywall, painting, roofing, and trim. We built some very nice homes and did an array of remodels over the next six years. Michael gained a tremendous amount of experience during those years, working hands on in almost all aspects of the building process.

In 2006, Michael started a building company, Yoder Construction Company. During the early years we completed a wide variety of projects including residential construction and renovation, light commercial construction and renovation, farm buildings, concrete, roofing, decking, and more.

In 2010 we formed a LLC under the legal name M. Yoder Construction Company LLC and continued to work as Yoder Construction Company.

From 2012 to 2022, residential wood framing and decking were our primary focus. Our crew framed well over 125 large custom homes and gained a reputation in the New River Valley as being one of the best. During that time, we also contracted and built several custom homes and a variety of other buildings.

In 2023 we made the decision to refocus our company exclusively on building custom homes. We continue to keep our framing (and decking) crew running so that we can ensure excellence in the construction of the custom homes.

Today, Yoder Custom Homes offers a total design/build solution for landowners who are in the market for a well-built, custom home. We work with our clients from the very beginning, guiding them through the design phase. We manage the entire building process right through the final cleaning and handover. Our goal is to make building as seamless and stress-free as possible.

We have been incredibly blessed over the years with wonderful clients, employees, and trade/supply partners. We are looking forward to what the future holds, the people that will come into our lives, the clients we will be honored to serve, and the homes we will be entrusted to build.
